Andrés’ musical training began in Buenos Aires, Argentina, under the guidance of Ciro Buono, his teacher and mentor for 9 years. Additional instructors include: Pastor Mora, Hans Roelofsen, Jeff Bradetich, Mark Dresser and Jeremy Kurtz.

As a performer Andrés has played in major venues of Argentina, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Brasil, Mexico, England, Germany, Dennmark, and the United States. Since his arrival to Mexico, he has become a very busy teacher, soloist and chamber musician. Currently, he  is the principal bass of the Baja California’s Orchestra (since 2002), and the founder, bass player, composer and arranger of “Cuatro para Tango” since 2004. After many years of collaboration and hard work with his bass students, he founded “Contrabajos de Baja California A.C. “, a non-profit cultural organization devoted to the development and promotion of the double bass and double bass education all over the state.  Among the many activities Andrés does with Contrabajos de Baja California A.C. it is important to mention the “Encuentro Latinoamericano de Contrabajos” (Latin American Bass Camp), an educational week devoted to double bass, that joins around 40 bass players from all over mexico and features world class double bassists (like Bertram Turetsky, Volkan Orhon, Mark Dresser, Catalin Rotaru, Diana Gannet, Simón García, among many others) from all over the world.

Currently, Andrés is one of the most demanded artists in Baja California, performing over 120 times every year and working with large private studio.

Andrés keeps a very active schedule as a composer and arranger. His works had been recorded and performed by renowed soloists, ensembles and orchestras in Mexico, Argentina, Germany, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dennmark, Italy, England, Spain, Korea, Japan, Hong Kong, and United States.

Andrés Martin’s music is published by Reallygoodmusic in the U.S.A. and PRObass.de in Germany.

Andrés uses D’addario Kaplan Orchestral strings and Velvet Compas 180 Solo set.
